| A Brief History of the English Educational Foundation of Japan | |||
|
The English Educational Foundation of Japan was established in September 1950 under the Social Education Law for the purpose of "promoting accurate learning of the English language and dissemination of the knowledge thereof in order to contribute to a better understanding of the cultures of Great Britain and the United States." The Foundation's non-profit status was approved by the Ministry of Education, Clture, Sports, Science and Technology, and it is the only organization devoted to the promotion of English language learning through correspondence in Japan that is endorsed by the Minister of Education. Over the past fifty years, more than 2.5 million students have participated in the wide selection of correspondence courses offered by the English Educational Foundation of Japan. The Foundation has constantly worked to develop, improve, and update its educational materials, which range from written textbooks to audio and video study aids to CD-ROM programs. At present, over 4,000 corporations nationwide participate in the Foundation's correspondence education programs to assist and bolster their employee training, and we have consistently received positive reviews from our clients. Furthermore, the English Educational Foundation of Japan has constantly been engaged in researching and collecting information in order to discover different aspects of English education, learn educational theories from the United States and Great Britain, find new study and teaching methods, better understand multi-cultural communication, and develop teaching materials. |
